Srinagar: National Conference (NC) Spokesman Tanvir Sadiq faced a wave of criticism and satire on social media after taking a jibe at PDP President Mehbooba Mufti. Sadiq had posted a meme on social media with the caption, “Aww, good girl!” depicting Mehbooba Mufti alongside a senior politician, accompanied by the phrase, “Yeh coffee toffee kya hai yeh coffee toffee.”
The post quickly went viral, with netizens flooding the comments section to mock both the meme and Sadiq’s approach to political discourse.
One user, Arshad Lone, sarcastically referred to Mehbooba Mufti as “Aunty metre sarkar,” echoing popular sentiments about the installation of smart meters in the region. Others, like Tufail Bhat, took the opportunity to lampoon not only Mehbooba Mufti but also the wider political families, writing, “Yea abdullah gada kya ha abdullah gada,,,yea aunty meter kya ha ya aunty meter…yea toop, toop kya haa yea toptop.”
Maqsood Ahmad added to the satire with, “Punjab ka sardar italy resident hindustan ka pilot,” while Nazim Shafi humorously listed unfulfilled political promises, “Including 200 unit electricity free 1 lakh jobs PSA And aunty Ka smart meter laga kay.”
Others, like Abu Ibrahim, suggested that both Mufti’s vision and Sadiq’s commentary were responsible for Kashmir’s troubles: “Mufti sahab kya vision tou kashmir ko lai dooba Tanvir Sadiq.”
Some users, such as Aadil Salaam, criticized Sadiq for indulging in what they called “cheap entertainment” instead of focusing on public service. “People didn’t vote for memes and cheap entertainment, they voted for service… Be what you were voted for,” Salaam wrote.
Younis Rather joined in on the meter metaphor, saying, “Umar sahab ki aunty koi bhi prepaid mater lagakya h Ab Mari mamu joi bhi prepaid mater lagavo Woh bahoot bada Ameer hai.”
The comments section was peppered with calls for seriousness, with Abbass Kashmiri bluntly advising, “Focus on ur work.”
